Webinar Oct. 26: Protecting Communities in the Clean Energy Transition

Watch the recording of a one-hour webinar about one of the most important issues in addressing climate change, in anticipation of the UN Climate Change Conference COP27 in Egypt in November 2022.

In order to transition to a green, zero emission economy, energy, transportation, and social sectors will need to move to renewable energy sources. Many of these technologies require the extraction of critical minerals, which must be done in a way that respects both the residents of the land and Earth’s dignity.

Voices from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Native Americans protecting Peehee Mu’Huh in Nevada will give testimony about the destructive impacts on their communities from this mining. Faith leaders will help reflect on how we can contribute to making sure that the necessary energy transition does not exacerbate the cry of the poor and the cry of the Earth.
