This year’s theme, “Peace, justice and strong institution: the role of indigenous peoples in implementing SDG 16,” spotlights the culture and traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples to inform and educate the global society of a holistic and harmonious way of living and well-being. A pattern of living sustainability that is interconnected and values nature.
The organizers of this event identified three key mandated areas with which to address: Climate Change (Impacts and Adaptation), Education, and a very important emerging issue: Extractive Industries, in the context of Southeast Asia, particularly, Indonesia and the Philippines.
