During his recent trip to Japan, Pope Francis reiterated that the use and very possession of nuclear weapons is immoral. Right now, Congress has the opportunity to pass bills that will support the extension of the New START Treaty between the United States and Russia. This treaty places verifiable limits on both nations' nuclear armaments and will expire in 2021 unless it is extended.

Take Action: Tell Congress to support the New START Treaty to limit nuclear armaments

The New START Treaty is one of a few important treaties that keep the United States and Russia accountable for decreasing their stores of nuclear weapons and refraining from creating new ones since the end of the Cold War. The United States and Russia still possess over 90% of the world's nuclear weapons. This Treaty is important for continuing the momentum toward a nuclear-free world.

Take action to limit nuclear armaments today.
