1:50 PM EST: TAA fails! Thanks for your calls!

The House of Representatives is voting NOW on trade bills -- Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and Trade Promotion Authority [AKA "fast track"] -- that are opposed by Maryknoll and others in the faith and human rights communities. If these bills become law it would have a devastating impact on our nation and our global community. Unlike the Senate fight, we have a real chance of defeating this legislation in the House.

While TAA is extremely important, we oppose it with its current language as it will be funded with monies taken from the child tax credit and will include amendments that threaten efforts to address climate change and immigration reform.

Call 1-888-410-0619 right now to tell your representative to say NO to fast track and TAA.

When you call, here's what you might say: "Hi, my name is (NAME). I'm a constituent from (CITY). I'm calling to let you know that trade deals are too important to be negotiated in secret and the implications for human trafficking victims are too high. I urge you to vote NO on fast track and trade adjustment assistance."

Opportunities to make a real difference like this don't come along too often. Please call 1-888-410-0619 to speak with your representative, then forward this message to your friends, family and neighbors.
