In the midst of the ecological disasters we see all around us, as Catholics we mark the year 2025 as a significant time in our Church with three significant events:
- a Jubilee Year of hope and restoration;
- the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home; and
- the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures, a holy praising of God reminding us of our closeness to God’s creation.
This time and these anniversaries invite us into a spiritual journey, especially ones that uphold the sacredness of creation, God’s gift of love. Our Catholic tradition offers a beautiful way to support such journeys through the pilgrimage. Pilgrimages foster spiritual growth, build community, and deepen our relationship with God.
As one of the organizers of Catholic Pilgrims of Hope for Creation, we invite you to plan or join a pilgrimage in celebration of these key events, and in healing for our common home, during the Season of Creation, Sept. 1 through Oct. 4, 2025.
Join us for this virtual launch party on Feb. 18, at 9am ET for all of us as Catholic Pilgrims of Hope for Creation and to discern your call in this movement! We will hear from leaders in our Church and in communities most impacted by the crisis, about pilgrimage, and more. You will receive resources and ideas to build plans. Click here to register for the webinar to discern your call to build a community of hope through pilgrimage.
