Celebrate Laudato Si' Week

Laudato Si Week banner

This week we celebrate the 8th anniversary of Laudato Si’, the extraordinary ecological encyclical in which Pope Francis calls us to “hear the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.” Join Catholics throughout the world in responding to his call to care for our common home.

Pray

This meditation invites us to reflect on the question: what can I do to walk together with my brothers and sisters most impacted by the climate crisis? The meditation also invites us to discern how we are being called to care for creation and work for environmental justice.

Study

Watch the profound and beautiful film The Letter, or consider organizing a screening with friends, family, and neighbors. The Letter tells the incredible story of the Laudato Si' encyclical letter by Pope Francis, through the eyes of frontline leaders battling the ecological crisis across continents.

On Sat., May 27th, at 1pm ET, the film’s protagonists will hold a live dialogue on Zoom. Register here to join the discussion and ask them your questions

Act

Join us this summer for the virtual conference Laudato Si’ and the U.S. Catholic Church, June 14-July 27, to convene and inspire all U.S. Catholics to more deeply integrate Laudato Si’ and its climate change teaching into the U.S. Church. The conference opens on June 14 with a keynote address from Ms. Christiana Figueres, former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) who brokered the Paris Agreement.
