Vigil for Sudan

Sponsored by Voices for Sudan

Please note: The vigil will be at Lafayette Park, 16th and H Streets in front of the White House, not Freedom Plaza as indicated in the graphic

Throughout these tumultuous times in Sudan, the Sudanese people have been murdered, oppressed and silenced for too long. Having been crippled by state violence for years, we join together to commemorate the souls of those who lost their lives and fight for peace and life with dignity for those who remain suffering. We will not stop until there is peace in every region of Sudan.

We must publicly join hands in order to showcase our humanity. We stand united commemorating the victims of the past, we stand in solidarity with those who remain suffering, and we will maintain our strength until all suffering ends. For this reason, on September 30th, 2012, Voices for Sudan invites all to join us in taking action for the people of Sudan.

We hope that you will join us and bring your friends to stand in solidarity with the people of Sudan.

Featured speakers will include Hawa Abdallah Mohammed Salih, human right activist and 2012 International Woman of Courage Award recipient; leading Sudan advocates, including Mickey Jackson Mickey Jackson, National Student Director at STAND, and members of the Sudanese Diaspora. Members of Congress have also been invited.

Can’t attend the rally but want to support us anyway?  There are two ways to do this, and you can do one, or both!
