Join the Global Day of Prayer for Peace in Sudan on April 11
We would like to share with you an invitation from Pax Christi International to observe the Global Day of Prayer for Peace in Sudan on April 11.
Next week marks the second anniversary since conflict began in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). As a result of that conflict, Sudan now faces one of the most severe and under-recognised humanitarian crises in the world. It has led to mass displacement, economic collapse, widespread hunger, and the deterioration of healthcare and education systems. International bodies, including the United Nations and the African Union, have labeled Sudan as the worst humanitarian crisis globally.
That is why our friends at Pax Christi International have called for a World Day of Prayer for Peace in Sudan on Friday, April 11, 2025, calling attention to the ongoing war.
How You Can Participate on April 11
- Host or Attend Prayer Gatherings: Organize or join vigils and moments of reflection in places of worship, homes, or public spaces to collectively pray for peace in Sudan.
- Engage Faith Leaders: Encourage religious leaders to include prayers for Sudan in their services, amplifying the call for peace within congregations.
- Promote Interfaith Unity: Invite individuals from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds to participate, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and solidarity.
- Incorporate Symbolic Acts: Use symbols like the dove, representing peace and hope, during prayer gatherings. Lighting candles can also serve as a visual expression of unity and support.
- Share on Social Media: Post images of lit candles or prayer gatherings using the hashtag #LightingTheWaySudan to raise awareness and encourage global participation.
