Protect TPS for Haitians
More than 350,000 Haitians in the United States depend on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to live safely, stay with their families and contribute to their communities. While a federal judge has temporarily blocked the cancellation of TPS for Haitians, this protection remains precarious and could be appealed at any time.
Reports indicate that ICE is preparing deportation enforcement in Haitian communities in Ohio and Florida. Deportation to Haiti would be cruel and unjust, subjecting people to violence, displacement and severe food insecurity, with almost half of all people in Haiti facing hunger. This is a moral, humanitarian and economic crisis, which Congress has the power to stop.
