Tell Congress: Protect Creation in the U.S. Budget

In the coming days, Congress is set to vote on a bill that will determine federal spending over the next year. That budget will include provisions that will impact climate justice. Investments into green energy and incentives to reduce carbon emissions are all on the line.

Our friends at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops explain:

Pope Francis called us to make individual, community, and public policy changes that advance environmental justice and an economy of inclusion. Pope Leo XIV also affirmed this call when he was Cardinal Prevost, saying, “It is time to move from words to actions.”

Climate change is one of the greatest threats to our common home. The USCCB supported the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to make historic, society-wide investments to decarbonize our economy, prepare communities to cope with extreme weather, and bring justice to communities long overburdened by pollution and most vulnerable to climate impacts.

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’, and his legacy ask your Member of Congress to protect these investments.

Write to your members of Congress using the form on the USCCB’s website to urge a vote on behalf of all creation.
