Take Action to Stop a War on Venezuela

In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 3, the United States launched a large-scale military air attack on Venezuela, bombing military bases in the capital Caracas and various other locations around the country, without Congressional authorization and in violation of the UN Charter. President Trump announced on social media that U.S. forces captured President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and have brought them to the United States to face charges of narco-terrorism and drug trafficking. The Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns strongly condemns this illegal and unconstitutional act of war by the United States. Read our full statement here.

Pray for the People of Venezuela

We invite you to use our Prayer for the People of Venezuela and share it widely. Join us in praying for peace and for the people of Venezuela, who have suffered so much under the corrupt authoritarian rule of President Maduro and now face the possibility of occupation and war.

Take Action

Scroll down to tell President Trump and your members of Congress to stop the war on Venezuela.

War is never the answer. It will only bring more instability and suffering. We call on the Trump Administration to cease all hostilities against Venezuela. We call on Congress to reclaim its constitutional authority over war powers and demand a stop to the violence.

We echo the words of Pope Leo XIV and his predecessors: “In today’s dramatic context of a third world war fought piecemeal … I too appeal to the powerful of the world by repeating these ever-relevant words: never again war!

Please send a message to the President and to Congress today.
