On Oct. 17, the Al-Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza, managed by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, was bombed, killing hundreds of civilians. Read their statement expressing grief and a cry for the protection of civilians. We are shocked, saddened, and distressed by the brutal violence unfolding in Israel Palestine. We are fearful of further loss of innocent life. Faith groups are united in their message: "Ceasefire now. Lay down the sword."
MOGC signed a letter requesting three things of Congress:
- Publicly call for ceasefire, de-escalation and restraint by all sides
- Call on all parties to abide by the laws of war, including the Geneva conventions and customary international law
- Prioritize steps to secure immediate release of hostages and ensure international protection for civilian
Our requests have not changed. Please join us in our advocacy for the innocent civilians trapped in the maw of this senseless violence.
