Stop a War with Venezuela
November 3, 2025
Sixty-four lives lost. That is the horrifying toll of the 15 military strikes the Trump administration has launched against 16 boats in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean since August. These strikes have been carried out with no due process and no public evidence of wrongdoing.
The violence is escalating. Despite the president’s denial, The Wall Street Journal and the Miami Herald have reported that the Trump administration has developed a list of possible airstrike targets inside Venezuela, a move that many experts fear is a prelude to an unauthorized regime change operation.
Join Us in Calling for Peace
The Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns, together with more than 60 other human rights and peace organizations, sent a letter to Congress expressing alarm at these “unwarranted and illegal military strikes and extrajudicial killings.” We are urging members to reclaim Congress’ constitutional responsibility by supporting War Powers Resolutions terminating unauthorized military action in the region.
An earlier attempt to terminate this unauthorized military action failed by a razor-thin margin: 51-48.
Now, a new, bipartisan resolution, S.J.Res 90, has been introduced in the Senate and is coming up for a vote in the coming days. This resolution is our best chance to halt the killings and hold the Administration accountable.
Tell Your Senators to Support S.J. Res 90
Scroll down to send a message to your senators now asking them to support a S.J.Res 90 to terminate unauthorized military action and uphold the rule of law. This resolution is our best chance to halt the killings and hold the Administration accountable.
We need all people to take action but we especially need to flood the offices of Senators in the following states where we know the vote is still highly contested: Alaska, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah.
Fill out the form below to send a message to your members of Congress now. Thank you!
