We are excited to announce Encounter for Our Common Home, a new national Catholic campaign for climate solutions.

This Spring, join us and Catholics across the country for this training and advocacy campaign to encounter and urge our U.S. Senators to support climate solutions now for the sake of our most affected neighbors, our future, and our common home. The campaign will culminate in a "Week of Encounter" May 2-6, with virtual or in-person meetings with U.S. Senators. The deadline to register is Earth Day, Friday, April 22.

U.S. Senators are considering climate provisions in budget legislation. We will be asking lawmakers to support climate and clean energy investments that reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, lower national greenhouse gas emissions, create jobs, and build the resilience of impacted communities.

We are planning meetings between our Catholic constituents and Senators that will be:

  1. Strongly centered upon our Catholic faith and
  2. Expressed by a broad spectrum of people of faith which transcends partisanship.

Our approach – of both faith and reason – rests ultimately on our shared beliefs, seeking to go to the heart of our concern for living out the Gospel through love of all Creation, with the hope of manifesting a change of heart for our leaders and the wider Church.

When you sign up for the campaign, you will be the first to hear of campaign events, including:

  • Community-building events
  • Webinars on our faith and climate action
  • Young Adult materials and engagement
  • Trainings
  • Resources
  • Action alerts

The activities will culminate in a “Week of Encounter” with virtual or in-person meetings with U.S. Senators the week of May 2-6, 2022.

The campaign is led by a coalition of U.S. Catholic groups working together for our Common Home. Join our office, Catholic Climate Covenant, and other U.S. Catholic partners for this national campaign for climate solutions. This is an advocacy effort in concert with the Vatican’s Laudato Si’ Action Platform (LSAP) activities in the United States.
