Ask Senate for Accountability on Migrants Sent to El Salvador
Ask your senators to support accountability for the treatment of migrants and inmates imprisoned in El Salvador, using the form below.
Since March 15, when the Trump Administration sent 238 migrants to the notorious Salvadoran mega-prison CECOT without due process, officials have defied repeated court orders to return the detainees to the United States, joining Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele in mocking both federal judges and the detainees themselves. In the coming days, senators plan to force a vote on legislation that would require Secretary of State Marco Rubio to report to the Senate on steps taken by the Administration to comply with the court’s mandate, as well as on human rights conditions in the prison. Failure to comply would result in cutting off U.S. security aid to El Salvador.
Maryknoll has long accompanied the people of El Salvador, and migrants in the United States and around the world. Please urge your senators to support this important resolution, and hold the Trump Administration accountable to the Constitution, judicial checks and balances, and universal human rights.
