Tell Your State Leaders to Take Action on Fossil Fuels

Scientists agree that dramatic action must be taken in phasing out fossil fuels to prevent global catastrophe. The National Oceans and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) confirmed that global surface temperature in 2024 ranked warmest in the 175-year record at 1.28°C above the 20th century average.

UN Secretary General António Guterres declared: “the era of global boiling has arrived…. Climate change is here. It is terrifying. And it is just the beginning.” But he added in the same breath: “It is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C and avoid the very worst of climate change. But only with dramatic, immediate climate action.”

We invite you to ask your state legislature to also become part of the climate solution by signing on to the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. This is even more vital now that the US has exited the Paris Agreement, the global climate pact.

Over a million individuals, hundreds of cities and states, and countries around the world have taken the same pledge to:

  • End expansion of any new coal, oil or gas production
  • Phase-out existing production of fossil fuels in a manner that is fair and equitable, and
  • Ensure a global just transition to 100% access to renewable energy

Help your state be part of a global climate solution movement that is gaining momentum. In April 2025 the First International Convention on the Just Transition Away from Fossil Fuels will take place on 28–29 April 2026 in Santa Marta, Colombia, organized by Colombia and the Netherlands and supported by over 20 countries.

Use the form below to ask your state legislators and governor to join the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.
