Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns endorses the Joint Appeal and joins the global social media action for Nuclear Abolition Day, September 26, 2025.

Join the Appeal for Nuclear Abolition Day

Friday, September 26, is International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

This annual day of action is especially poignant and urgent this year, the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, with the threat of nuclear war higher than at any point since the height of the Cold War, and the last nuclear arms control agreement between the two largest nuclear powers set to expire in just over four months.

Three Actions Now

Here are three things you can do now, together with people across the globe, to eliminate nuclear weapons:

  • Endorse a Joint Appeal today, to be delivered on Friday to the High Level Meeting of Presidents, Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers and Ambassadors at the United Nations, calling on leaders at all levels of governance to take concrete steps toward reduce and eliminate nuclear weapons worldwide. Both individuals and organizations are invited. Read and endorse the Appeal here.

Join us in helping to stop nuclear weapons: peace is in our hands!
