Protect Immigrant Families: Stop Mass Deportation

The mass deportation plans in the United States will separate families – the Center for Migration Studies estimated on May 1 that 3.8 percent of all U.S. citizen children (2.7 million) are at risk of being left with no parents in their home under a mass deportation scenario.

Tell Congress and President Trump to protect immigrant families: stop mass deportations now.

The latest immigrant group targeted is Venezuelans. On May 19, the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump Administration can move forward with canceling protected status for Venezuelans, immediately making 350,000 Venezuelans in the United States vulnerable to deportation to a country that the State Department says is not safe due to a high risk of danger, including wrongful detention, kidnapping, and civil unrest.

As people of faith, we are called to welcome the stranger, to treat every person with dignity and respect, and to work toward a society where all can flourish. Deportation separates families, destabilizes communities, and disregards the inherent worth of the human person. By embracing a spirit of welcome, we not only fulfill our Christian duty but also build a stronger, more vibrant, and more compassionate world for all.
