200 Organizations and Experts Call for an End to Trump’s Threats of War Crimes and Commit to Pursuing Accountability

More than 200 leading human rights, humanitarian, civil liberties, faith-based and environmental organizations, think tanks and experts have issued a joint urgent statement in response to President Trump’s threat regarding Iran that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if his demands are not met.

Joint Statement Opposing the “Automatic” Registration of Individuals for a Possible Military Draft

On March 11, more than 50 peace, religious, and civil liberties
organizations issued a joint statement opposing the “automatic”
registration of individuals for a possible military draft and supporting
the Selective Service Repeal Act to end planning and preparation for a
draft. This is the the broadest and most diverse anti-draft coalition to
come together in years.

On Feb. 10, a group of nineteen Theravada Buddhist monks completed a 108-day, 2,300-mile “Walk for Peace” from their center for meditation in Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., to share a message of peace, compassion and nonviolence. Stefan Andre Waligur, founder of Community of Peace in Louisa, Virginia, a Taize-style intentional community, wrote the following reflection on his experience accompanying the monks on their walk that day and participating in an interfaith service of welcome for the monks at the National Cathedral.
