After years of closed-door negotiations, countries are about to sign the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a trade pact that would threaten climate and environmental policies across the world. The TPP would increase greenhouse gas emissions, hurt our ability to keep fossil fuels in the ground, and empower fossil fuel companies to challenge climate and environmental policies in private trade tribunals. Using similar rules as those contained in the TPP, TransCanada has announced its plan to sue the U.S. government for $15 billion over its Keystone XL rejection using rules in the North American Free Trade Agreement. Additionally, the TPP not only does not go far enough to protect our forests, wildlife, fish and oceans, but could exacerbate conservation challenges. Join this webinar to learn about the TPP and what NGOs are doing about it.
