The Embassy of the Republic of South Africa as part of its FESTIVAL OF IDEAS presents the book launch Redeeming the Past – My Journey from Freedom Fighter to Healer by Fr. Michael Lapsley. The memoir is published by Maryknoll’s Orbis Books.

The event will bring together peoples, and countries, who have cherished Fr. Lapsley’s work of healing, justice and forgiveness in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and his own country of birth, New Zealand. In his memoir, Fr. Lapsley, a friend of many Maryknollers, outlines his strong stand against apartheid for which he became the victim of a letter bomb attack in Zimbabwe. He founded the Institute for the Healing of Memories which works with individuals and communities in healing through reconciliation and forgiveness. The book launch will include cultural performances and speeches from communities and people that have been touched and inspired by Fr. Lapsley’s contribution.

Free and open to all! Book available for purchase at the Global Exchange store located at Busboys and Poets, 5th & K.
