"Creation is not a property, which we can rule over at will; or, even less, is the property of only a few: Creation is a gift, it is a wonderful gift that God has given us, so that we care for it and we use it for the benefit of all, always with great respect and gratitude." -- Pope Francis, May 21, 2014

Maryknoll missioners witness the impacts of climate disruption on God’s creation and marginalized communities globally. In Namibia, consecutive years of drought threaten food security for millions, in Chile and Peru the diminishing ice pack on the Andes mountain range is decreasing water needed to sustain human and ecological communities, and in the Philippines, 2013's Typhoon Haiyan and Typhoon Rammasun, which hit in mid-July, have destroyed homes and taken lives.

We need moral leadership from our elected officials in Washington to address the greatest impacts of climate disruption on creation and our neighbors in the Global South. Call on President Obama and Congress to address climate change today.

World leaders will gather at the United Nations in September seeking to advance global action on climate change. Learn more about the Summit here.

Climate change is a global problem that needs a global solution. As the largest producer of carbon emissions, we need our political leaders to ensure that the UN agreement is binding and that it supports climate-resilient human and ecological communities.
